In my final term of graphic design at TAFE SA, I was given the task to create 2D and 3D applications to suit a brief for Moonlight Cinema. We were allowed to pick any 3-4 movies to create our own campaign material. I selected the Classic Universal Monster movies which included Dracula (1931) and Frankenstein (1931). As these movies and the monster imagery is still copyrighted by Universal, I decided to go with a design that evokes the look and feel of those movies, without using any copyrighted imagery. One common theme I found across the movies is that they're filmed in black and white, as well as incorporate lightning for mood. The results of this are below, which also includes a snack box full of Allen's Minties and Fantales, classic lollies for Australian film-goers. The type I used is CCMonsterMashWorn, which I found captures the striking hand lettering on Classic Hollywood horror movie posters. Completing this project has taught me that even with restrictions that I can create striking graphics and campaign material.
